Another GREAT Speaker!

February 18th, 2011 6:30 p.m.

An evening with Torin M. Finser, Ph.D., Director of the Waldorf Teacher Education Program at Antioch University.  He will be promoting his newest book, "Silence is Complicity: A Call to Let Teachers Improve our Schools through Action Research-- Not 'No Child Left Behind'".   Dr. Finser is also the author of Organizational Integrity: How to Apply the Wisdom of the Body to Develop Healthy Organizations; In Search of Ethical Leadership: If Not Now, When?; School Renewal: A Spiritual Journey for Change.  The talk will be held at the Vesica Institute in East Asheville.  Cost is $10.  For more information see www.azaleamountain.org.

Waldorf Workshop


Join Azalea Mountain School for a Magical Day in the life of a Waldorf Student

When: February 5th
Where: Groce Methodist Church in E. Asheville
Time: 9am-3pm

   For students, teachers, aspiring teachers, parents or anyone who would like to know more about Waldorf Education.   We will be meeting together to better understand Waldorf Education.  The day will begin with a brief outline of Waldorf Education, followed by a sample main lesson.  There will be subject lessons to choose from including games, stories, handwork and Eurythmy.   

  The workshop will be led by Whitney Macdonald, former teacher at The Emmerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill.

 Lunch will be provided  Hawaiian Haystacks (rice, quinoa, vegetables, some fruit, meat optional)
Price of Workshop : $65

Whitney MacDonald holds a Masters in Education from Antioch University.  He coached and taught in the Emmerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill for 14 years.  He has lectured on education both domestically and abroad.

Learn specific Brain Gym movements to support reading, writing, art, instrument and tool activities for your children/students.

Brain Gym movements help integrate key developmental patterns for the children.

Fun, simple, interactive, beneficial

Instructor: Amy Arrendell, M.Ed., has been teaching Brain Gym to teachers, therapists and parents throughout the eastern US for the last 15 years.

Please bring:  your drinking water, at least 6 sheets of paper, writing pencil or pen, two crayons or markers, a ball that can be tossed softly, a piece of modeling clay.

This workshop is planned for Art Space Charter School teachers who are generously allowing other interested parents and teachers from the community to attend.
